Project Description
Covering an urban area of 3,600 hectares, the project consisted of the design of a General Plan of Town Planning for the Choueifat-Deir Qubel-Bshamoun-Aramoun region located in the southeast of Beirut. The surveying of the region was conducted taking into consideration historical, archeological, topo-geographic, geological, water resources and climate.
The study included demographic and socio-economic studies analysis of all activities in the region (industrial, commercial, agricultural, cultural, educational, and institutional) Land use building and construction regulations for each zone were established.
In addition the project included:
- The mapping and digitization of over 35,000 individual plots of land.
- Comprehensive socio-economic survey of around 18,500 residential units and 3,500 commercial/industrial units.
- Detailed demographic analytical study covering over 65,000 inhabitants.
- Comprehensive survey and appraisal of transportation networks and traffic patterns.
Consultancy Services
The study consisted of the General Plan of the area, zoning, roads and circulation, and a master plan of all infrastructure networks and their linkage with the existing networks; these include water distribution, drainage, wastewater collection, electrical, lighting and communications; solid waste disposal environmental impact assessment studies and recommendations were also conducted.
