Project Description

The Upgrading of 15km of the Dukhan Highway from the existing two lanes to a four-lane dual carriageway included the construction of three new interchanges and service roads for both Eastbound and Westbound carriageways.

The project was also located in a particularly sensitive area of Qatar with the main carriageway passing both the Emiri Guard Headquarters and the Emir’s Al-Wajbah Palace.

 

Consultancy Services

Acting as CCC’s Design Sub-Consultant, ACE was required to prepare the design of approximately 12 km of temporary roads needed to move the traffic using the existing highway to the service roads allowing the contractor to start with the construction phase of the proposed new highway.

ACE was required to provide full designs of temporary links for various phases of the design that would allow traffic to switch from the existing roads or the newly completed highway to temporary roads and the newly completed service roads.

This included:

 

  •        Traffic Survey and Analysis
  •        Detailed Design of all Temporary Roads tying into existing and temporary roads.
  •        Approvals for all Road Geometry and Temporary Traffic Management plan.
  •        Traffic Signs and Road Markings
  •       Safety Barriers
  •       Site Access / Egress Provisions
  •       Final Approvals from Traffic Department, Project Consultants and Ashghal.
  •       Bespoke Access / Egress arrangements for various stages of the construction process.

ACE also provided TTM advice and highway design assistance to the contractor throughout the construction process.
