Project Description

 

The South Mountain Highway is planned to double the existing South Coastal Highway between Kaldeh and Damour to cater for the expected high traffic in the future on this road.

The main highway starts with a directional fork interchange with the Beirut Outer Ring Highway at Choueifat and ends with a directional fork interchange with the South Coastal Highway at Damour River. Its total length is 13kms for the main highway and 3 km for Khaldeh Branch. 7 kms of this highway is a 6 lane divided facility, while the rest is a 4 lane divided one. In addition the project includes:

  • Six other interchanges of the diamond and trumpet types.
  • 13 viaducts over deep valleys of different types: arch bridges, box girder & prestressed beams.
  • Double 17 m span tunnel, 260 m long.
  • 5 rigid frame underpasses
  • 10 solid slab overpasses.
  • Several reinforced concrete retaining walls.
  • Box and pipe culverts for drainage.
  • Street lighting.
  • Road marking, signing and safety installations.

 

Consultancy Services

 

Field investigations, traffic studies, topographic and geotechnical investigations, conceptual and preliminary detailed design and preparation of land reservation decree.
