Project Description

 

This project was initiated Lebanese Government through the Investment Development Authority of

Lebanon (IDAL) and it called for:

 

• Revising the present industrial classification taking into consideration new discharge parameters being prepared by the Ministry of Environment
• Activating the upgrading of existing industrial areas through setting up well defined programs and instituting a number of incentives
• Soliciting finance for the provision of infrastructure and the extension of industrial zones
• Re-structuring the geographical distribution of industries to ensure more evenly spread industrial activities and thus increase job opportunities in all parts of the country
• Setting up new industries to reinvigorate the national economy
• Inviting contractors to develop new industrial zones on Government owned land with infrastructure and ready to use superstructures
• Facilitating the issuing of permits by making it a "one shop stop"
