Project Description

Comprehensive infrastructure scheme for the development of a New Mohammed Bin Zayed City with an area of 2400 hectares within the Municipality of Abu Dhabi whose actual construction started in March 2000.  Study started in June 1998 with an inception report leading the way for development of a Master Plan for sewerage and surface water drainage.  The following are the major components of the project:

-        Mussafah East Sewerage Master Plan:  comprehensive project consisting of the construction of the following major elements:

• Mussafah East Trunk line serving the Industrial areas in the West and the Residential areas in East Mussafah. The Trunk line was laid at depths that allow deletion of all sewerage pumping stations in the project area.  Construction by Non-disruptive Methods to depth reaching 20m. (Total cost of scheme 115Million Dhs)
• Main pumping station 17: designed to convey flows collected by the trunk line to the Wastewater treatment plant at Mafraq. (Total cost of scheme 28Million Dhs)
• MPS –17 pressure mains: twin 1200 mm pressure mains from MPS 17 to Al Mafraq.  Distance of pumping over 8.5 km, with diversions, over flows and other features. Cost 37.5 Million Dhs).
• The Works above are implemented through six contracts (ADSS-803a, 803b, 803c, 804/1, 804/2 and 804M)

-        Mussafah East Surface Water Drainage Master Plan:  Plans for the evacuation of surface water were prepared for the entire area.  The Master Plan is implemented through contract ADSS 805 and through drainage projects for the residential sectors.

-        Sewerage and surface water drainage projects: design and construction of sewerage networks and surface water collection networks for the new Mohammed Bin Zayed City, phases 2 and 3, and other sectors of Mussafah East.  Construction is through the following contracts: ADSS-801, ADSS-802, ADSS-806, ADSS-807, ADSS 80811, ADSS 811, 812, 813 and others. (Total Cost 275 Million Dhs.)

-        Sewerage and Surface Water Drainage Networks for Al Mafraq Industrial area, and South of Mussafah Creek Industrial Area (ADSS-815 and ADSS-818) (Total Cost 125 Million Dhs.)
