Project Description
Main pumping station 17 is the terminal point of Mussafah East Trunk line, designed to collect flows from Mussafah Residential, Zayed City and the Industrial areas west of the Mussafah East Master plan which includes. The Mussafah East Trunk line is part of the Mussafah East Master plan which includes, in addition to MPS 17 and its pressure mains, a number of deep lines connecting the different communities. MPS 17 is currently under construction under the following:
- ADSS 804/1: MPS 17 Civil works
- ADSS 804/M: MPS 17 Electromechanical works
- ADSS 804/2: MPS 17 pressure mains.
The scheduled completion date for the projects is August 2004.
When completed, MPS 17 will receive flows currently discharging into existing MPS 6 located in west Mussafah and from a wide area currently under development in Zayed Residential City. In addition to flow from the catchment area, MPS 17 is also connected to pumping stations 5 and 16 through emergency overflows. The trunk line to MPS 17 was entirely built by NDM due to the extreme depth encountered. The invert of the wet well at MPS 17 is 79.35m (datum: 100m above new Abu Dhabi datum), which is 26.30 meters below the ground surface, making it the deepest pumping station in Abu Dhabi.
