Project Description
The project is intended to provide the city of Beirut and its adjacent Metn region with a comprehensive sewerage treatment facility.
It is intended to adequately handle a wastewater flow of 324,000 m3/day with an estimated target population of
2,160,000 inhabitants by the year 2015 and a total wastewater flow of 479,000 m3/day with a population of
3,220,000 inhabitants by the year 2040.
The plant process consists of a conventional activated sludge system with anaerobic sludge digestion, drying and
landfill. The effluent water will be discharged into an existing 1700mm diameter sea outfall discharging into the
Mediterranean with multiple diffusion nozzles at 57 meters below sea level.

Master planning, condition surveys; investigations; feasibility studies and economic appraisals; topographic, geotechnic and wastewater surveys and analysis. Advanced conceptual designs were also produced.
