Project Description
A major sewerage scheme intended to serve all the urban areas of Kuwait outside the limits of the capital city.
It extends along the coastal strip southwards from the capital to the Saudi border; along the coast westwards from the capital to and including the town of Jahra; and the island of Failaka.
The scheme serves a population of 800,000 and includes;
- Gravity sewers and pressure mains with diameters ranging between 200mm and 1600mm, with a length in excess of 115 km
- Lift and pumping facilities, comprising 14 sewage lift stations and 3 main pumping stations
- Wastewater treatment facilities comprising
- One for the coastal strip for some 600,000 inhabitants,
- One for the Sulaibikhat/Jahra area with 180,000 inhabitants and
- One for the island of Failaka with around 20,000 inhabitants.
The first two plants are based on the activated sludge process and the third on the stabilization pond process.
Consultancy Services
Technical, feasibility and economic studies; geotechnical and topographic surveys; design; preparation of tender and contract documents for scheme implementation under three construction contracts; supervision of construction; inspections/testing of equipment at manufacturers and suppliers plants; as well as final testing, commissioning and operation of the scheme.
