Project Description
Two separate free zone projects intended for duty free use, including bonded stores, light industry and trading.
The Riyak Free Zone is located North-East of Riyak airport, 8 km East of Zahleh.
The site covers an area of about 500,000 m2 and has access to an international highway system linking it to Beirut and Damascus.
The Al-Qleaat Free Zone is located 25 km north of the city of Tripoli and 7 km south of the Lebanese-Syrian border.
Again, the site covers an area of about 500,000 m2 and has access to an international highway system, the main coastal road and to the seaport of Tripoli.
A private company will Build Manage and Operate each site under a 25 year BOT contract in accordance with Free Zone regulations to be applied with the support of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL),
Both projects will require around $ 12 million investment in infrastructure and an optional $ 10 million or so in superstructure cost over a period of 5 to 10 years.
The Free Zones are planned as a European style business park with particular emphasis on pleasant surroundings. They will be equipped with all amenities and facilities to provide comprehensive services to the Users, engaged in light manufacturing storage and other business activities.
Other main characteristics of the projects include:
- First class infrastructure, utilities and telecommunications
- Ready-to-use warehouses, factories and offices for long or short term rental
- Easy and rapid distribution network to the Middle East and Europe
- "One-stop-shop" to process: Government formalities, Recruitment and training of staff, Information and advice

The scope of services included the undertaking feasibility studies, detailed master planning and conceptual design for each site.
