Project Description

 

The Project consists of a three-storey extension to the existing Hospital, the District General Hospital Scheme III. The extension has a built-up area of 9,800 square metres in the City of Sunderland. The General Hospital centre has all the necessary internal and external services, including:

 

• Accidents and Emergency
• Radiology
• Cardiology
• Respiratory Medicine
• Physiotherapy
• Critical Care
• Operating Suites
• Children, Surgical & Medical Wards
• Gynecology and Obstetrics
• Mental Health Ward

 

And all associated infrastructure, support, administration, and accommodation facilities.  The extension was mainly for the Operating Suites and Critical Care Ward as well as a 40-bed increase in the hospital centre’s capacity

 The service disciplines provided under the consultancy agreement include hospital planning, quantity surveying, civil and structural engineering.
