Project Description

 Appointed to formulate a Master Plan for the expansion of the airport to handle up to 20 million passengers per annum. This included the terminal area, taxiway/apron system, a runway extension and extensive earthworks and landfill. Detailed schemes were developed for various stages of passenger throughput including obstacle free zones, public safety zones at each end of the runway and land-use within the airport and runway approaches. Completed 1996.

The study included the following components:

Demographic analysis and projection.

• Forecast and modelling of anticipated growth based on alternative development policies and scenarios.
• Allocation of land reservations for future expansion and growth.
• Analytical assessment of prevailing transport network problem locations and proposals for immediate and long-term remedial measures.
