Project Description
This project provides a typical example of the airport development capabilities of the company.
The Nigerian Government commissioned this study to determine capacity and development options for this major regional airport over the next 30 years. Associated Consulting Engineers was appointed to develop a number of options for Abuja Airport, based on passenger estimates provided.
Strategic schemes including additional terminals, runways, taxiways and parking aprons have been prepared in sufficient detail to enable budget cost estimates. These options prepared by Associated Consulting Engineers will enable the airport to expand its annual capacity in order to accommodate predicted growth over the forthcoming 30 years.
The second part of the study involved the comprehensive design for the first phase components of the project which involved the following major elements.
- Study and proposals for new international and domestic terminal buildings,
- new control tower,
- support buildings,
- sewage treatment works,
- water supply,
- power generation,
- infrastructure and car parks.
