| Restoration and Expansion of SRF in King Faisal Naval Base | Location: Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Client: Saudi Royal Navy Forces Consultants: Associated Consulting Engineers (ACE) in association of Arabian Consulting Engineering Center (ACEC) Construction Cost: 4,000 Million SR Project Description
The Scope of services included field investigation, master planning for the expansion, detailed design and preparation of tender documents including tendering conditions, contract conditions, specification, bills of quantities and drawings.
The scope of restoration works comprises: 1. Restoration of existing piers ( 1 to 6), existing wharfs (A to L) and ammunition pier which were built on piles by total removal of decks, repair and cathodic protection for piles and reconstruction of decks and new shaft to strengthen the piers against seismic activities.
2. Restoration of existing syncrolift and related transfer pit and dry dock area. And upgrading by widening the platform and adding new 14 hoists. The total is 56 hoists.
3. Restoration of full mechanical and electrical networks in the Ship Repair Facilities (SRF) of the Base.
The scope of expansion works comprises of:
1. New 4 piers and wharfs 200 m long, 150m spacing. 2 alternatives suspended slab on piles and quay wall on both sides with reclamation and rigid slab. 2. New Ro-Ro berth 55m long. 3. New dry dock (excavated) 180m long, 40 m wide and -11.5m CD depth. 4. Marina for maintenance and service boats, berthing length 1000m 5. Dredging around 10 million m3 for widening approach channel and for new piers.
