Project Description
A major sewerage rehabilitation scheme intended to upgrade all the wastewater systems serving the areas of Hawalli, Sha\'ab, Daiya and Qadisiyah within the metropolitan boundaries of the capital city of Kuwait.
The scheme involved conducting comprehensive condition surveys, utilizing closed-circuit TV inspections of sewers, upgrading the system hydraulic capacity to serve the projected 2005 flows, replacement and/or providing corrosion protective systems to conduits and structures to suit the high corrosive and temperature conditions in Kuwait.
The scheme comprised 230 km of sewers with 200 mm to 1000 mm diameters, 7200 manholes, five pumping stations and one lift station.
Consultancy Services
The project was implemented under three stages. The corresponding consulting services included:
• Preparation of tender and contract documents and supervision of the condition surveys including sewer cleaning,
closed-circuit TV inspections, and flow measurements.
• Evaluation of condition survey results; conducting studies and hydraulic network calculations; establishment of repair and
replacement requirements; assessing viable and cost effective repair and corrosion protective systems; design;
preparation of tender and contract documents of rehabilitation works; establishing priorities and phased implementation
schedules.
• Supervision of construction of the renovation works.
